When is seat belt webbing replacement interesting?
Your seat belt webbing is a mandatory inspection point during the MOT and is nowadays assessed very strictly. Even a small defect of just 1 to 2 mm can reduce the strength of your seat belt webbing by as much as 30%. Seat belt webbing replacement is a smart and affordable solution if:
- Your seat belt has failed its MOT due to the condition of the webbing
- Your seat belt webbing is damaged or worn
- You want to change the colour of your seat belt webbing
In all these cases, seat belt webbing replacement is an excellent alternative to a completely new seat belt — you keep your original retractor mechanism and pay significantly less.
How does seat belt webbing replacement work?
After placing your order, you will automatically receive a packing slip and a prepaid shipping label. Send your seat belt(s) to our repair department using this label — don't forget to include the packing slip. On the day of receipt, we replace the webbing and hand your seat belt(s) over to PostNL the same working day. You will receive a track & trace code so you can follow your parcel. Average turnaround time: 2 to 3 working days.
Important conditions:
- Only send using the shipping label provided by us
- The retractor mechanism must be 100% mechanically sound; the webbing must not have been removed or cut
- Seat belts from 1995 or older: surcharge of €20.00 due to the more complex mechanism
- Price applies per retractor — if your seat belt has 2 retractors, please increase the quantity to 2
- Always disconnect the battery before removing the seat belt, and only reconnect it after the seat belt has been refitted
When removing the seat belt: Mechanical pretensioners must be set to the locked position before transport. Electronic pretensioners can be sent without any additional steps, provided they are well packaged.
We use only certified materials, stitched with a certified machine specifically programmed for seat belts. Please note: any existing E-mark label on your seat belt will no longer be valid after the replacement; the new webbing carries its own E-mark certificate.
Colour matching: We match the colour as closely as possible, but a slight colour difference is sometimes unavoidable.
Belgium: You will receive an email with the delivery address and packing slip; return shipping costs are included in the order.
Liability for transport: We provide an insured PostNL shipping label. In the event of a lost parcel, we will file a claim with PostNL and reimburse the order costs. We are not liable for any consequential damages. In practice, missing parcels always turn up, though this can sometimes take time. Should a parcel be lost despite all efforts, we will always try to supply a replacement seat belt, though any additional costs will unfortunately need to be passed on.
